A new two-day course of famciclovir (available in Australia as Famvir) has been licensed for treating outbreaks of genital herpes. The new course consists of a single 500mg dose, followed by three doses of 250mg.

2008 travel scholarship winner announced

Winner of the 2008 AHMF Travel Scholarship is Dr Jonathon Howard. Dr Howard will be presenting his research: Investigation of the role of CMV and other herpesvirus in congenital infections and stillbirth at the International Herpesvirus Workshop in Ithaca, New York from July 25th to 31st 2009.

A new approach to genital herpes treatment

A two day course of famciclovir can effectively treat outbreaks of genital herpes. The AHMF has recently published guidelines on the new two day genital herpes treatment course.

DVDs

Following the 2006 and 2007 educational forums, the AHMF produced DVDs of the forum proceedings. The physical DVDs are no longer available for distribution, but you can download the files to burn your own DVD.

Since 1997 the AHMF has produced a range of educational resources for Australian clinicians, doctors, health and scientific professionals. Our range of resources has grown from a set of printed management guidelines to educational forums, multimedia presentations and our own original research.
