Herpes simplex in pregnancy

Vertical transmission of HSV from mother to child can result in neonatal herpes, a rare condition—but with very high mortality. This guidelines examines strategies for reducing the incidence of this condition.

Valaciclovir prophylaxis to prevent recurrent herpes at delivery

Valaciclovir prophylaxis is tolerated well in late pregnancy, has no adverse effects on the neonate and significantly reduces clinical recurrences at delivery, laboratory detection of HSV at delivery, and caesarean delivery for HSV

She presented A Study of Obstetricians' Knowledge Base for Management of Herpes Virus Infections in Pregnancy in Australia at the 2006 Infectious Diseases Society for Obstetrics and Gynecology (IDSOG) Annual Meeting 2006 in Monterey, California.
