New guideline: Diagnosis of Herpes Simplex Virus |

The herpes simplex viruses 1 and 2 are the cause of multiple disorders including genital herpes, cold sores, serious neonatal infections, dermatitis, eye and brain infections. Multiple tests are available for diagnosing herpes simplex. This guideline describes the tests currently available in Australia, and how best to utilise and interpret them.
