New Guideline: Short Course Therapy for Recurrent Herpes Simplex |

Recent research has shown that one or two-day treatment courses can be as effective for recurrences of herpes as the five-day courses that have been used since the introduction of antiviral medications in the 1980s. A two-day course of antiviral treatment has recently become available in Australia; this will be of considerable benefit for patients with recurrent genital herpes.
