Genital herpes is one of the two most common sexually transmitted infections in Australia, with one in eight people carrying the virus. There is a belief that people with genital herpes are only contagious during outbreaks, but this is not true. Some people do not get symptoms at all and may not even know that they have the virus or are at risk of infecting other people. Genital herpes can lie dormant for years and can reactivate at any time, with or without symptoms. The AHMF quiz questions seek to find out if you have been exposed to the herpes virus or if you are at risk of acquiring genital herpes. If you answer the questions we will be able to estimate whether or not you are at risk of acquiring genital herpes or if you have been exposed to the genital herpes virus. Please note that when we refer to the term ‘sex’ in this survey we mean any form of sexual contact, including penetrative vaginal oral, or anal contact. DisclaimerOnce you have completed the survey you will be provided with a report which estimates your risk of acquiring genital herpes or your risk of having been exposed to the genital herpes virus. This report is not medical advice and should not be used as a substitute for medical advice. For medical advice we recommend that you should seek the advice of a medical practitioner. This survey is confidential, which means that it is conducted on an anonymous basis and will not identify who you are and no one will be able to find out what you said in the survey. Participation in the survey is optional and you can exit at any time. If you decide to exit part way through the survey, the information you have provided at the point of exit may be included in the survey results. The AHMF may use the information gathered from the survey for statistical purposes and may produce a report of the results which will be disseminated to health professionals and the public and may be made available on the AHMF website or published in journals, magazines and other media sources. Your personal details will not used in the dissemination of results. The AHMF will comply with its Privacy Policy in respect of the information collected from you http://www.ahmf.com.au/site_info/privacy.htm. Continue to the quiz...
